I was standing in front of my barn yesterday with a telescopic lens waiting until they all got together to take this shot.
That's a Duetz 100hp air-cooled diesel on the cart with the horses. The 4 Belgins together probably are worth as much as one of the John Deere tractors.

I got to see a team pulling a cart like that with a rototiller behind it in Lancaster, PA. Looked like they were incorporating some really lumpy compost before laying beds. Horses had a low enough gear for it to do a good job pulverizing everything.

I'd say your patience paid off - THAT picture is worth MORE than a thousand words :)

A really, really good, registered Belgian/draft mare of impeccable show breeding might go $20K. A really good solid purebred breeding age mare might go $6000. An average gelding for farm use might run $1500-2500 depending on market and area.

A friend lives next to someone who breeds Belgians. Any time you go to the fence the youngsters all come over to see you. Really friendly animals, like a herd of giant Labrador retrievers.

Thats a great photo.
