Roy's wife is selling it all. Merritt auction sat. May 16 a lot of antique tractors and chainsaw. He had the doors open to the public once but I never got a chance to get there! A lot of stuff

I don't understand why auctioneers think they need to charge both the sell and the buyer. Charging the seller 25% or more should be enough!

"Too bad they got Merritt. 10% buyers premium. I think I'll stay home."

The last auction I went to had a 10% buyers premium too.
Auctioneer "announced" that it was the seller's option and they requested it.
I said "or you would have charged them 10% more, right?"
He didn't have a direct answer of course.
I told him I would bid 50% less to make up for the lie.
It was not Merritt in this case.

I just don't even go to many anymore unless it's Sykora or Petersen. I know they don't charge a premium.

Frankly, I find it odd that the buyer's premium has not yet been outlawed. It certainly should be. In my opinion, it is nothing short of theft. Then the auctioneers will try to up the bid with shills in the audience running up the bids.
