1968 Case 1000 Crawler

When I shut this machine down 2 years ago it had a heavy clunking sound in the engine. Whatever it is will stop the engine dead at a low idle. I removed the belly pan and the oil pan, all connecting rods seem to be in tact. Any ideas appreciated. Not looking for info on other models, just this one.

Two possibilities , could be the balancer has lost some

teeth in the weights or bushings worn out in housing.

Other idea , depending on which model it is ,converter

drive is toothed ring or on later ones is flex plate

coupling , neither type is likely to stop engine.

Have owned 1000's since 67 , not much I have not had

happen.
