Which Allis does this fit?

I'm assuming this is a hitch for an Allis Chalmers. I assume the large open end quick couples in a receiver under the tractor and the two arms extending up--well, I don't know if they are just for mounting or lifting it or ????

So which Allis does this fit? A pic would be nice to see how it's used.

Thanks!

You've probably heard of "snap coupler" ? That's what the front end of that drawbar "snaps" into. I think it's from one of the D series. D14 maybe? I can't tell which one. The arms with bolts(were originally pins) just hold the drawbar up. Brackets with a series of holes give different heights.

I have the exact same hitch for a D 14. I know the D 14-17 used the same hitch. I am not sure if the D10-12 or the D 19 use the same one as the others. They used to bring $200-300 complete like this one looks to be. This one is not worn too bad either. The eye and the hitch hole show little wear.

How is it different??? I just looked at mine and it sure looks just like the one in the picture. My D-14 is 1959 Model.

I just measured, this one is 10" between the "arms" and it's 39-40" long overall. If that helps anyone. :)
200-300???? Seriously? I'm gonna put it on CL for $65. I hope at least it sells quickly.

Chris: I did not have the original when I bought this tractor. I had to find one. I had to give $200 15 years ago and the good ones like your will bring more now. Most of the ones around are all broken up and worn out.

It"s a drawbar for a WD45, or a WD with the Snap Coupler upgrade. The U-shaped part is called a bail, and it attaches to brackets on the underside of the tractor. It has nothing to do with the lift arms. It is not the same as a D17- that bail has curved sides. Not sure if the D14 bail is straight like this, or curved. IIRC, factory standard was pins with keepers, not bolts as pictured.

Well maybe I'll pull it from CL. I'm afraid I'll have to sell on ebay to get anywhere near that price and then I have to charge shipping. And find a box! I doubt Greensboro, NC is the best place to sell things like this.

I'm not sure the tractor hobby is quite what it was 15 yrs ago. And folks that might actually use these size tractors seem to be, well like me, turning to 20-25 year old compact diesels. I love my JD 755. :)

I got a Farmall Cub swinging drawbar that I haven't been able to sell for $75 for like a year now. Even tried it an ad in the state wide agricultural paper the dept of agriculture prints.

Got a cat 1 JD toolbar recently too. 5' wide 2" x 2" square. Just put that on for $65. I'm not sure anyone will know what to do with it. No feet or anything -- just bar. I know they are very pricy new.

Woops, as I was typing this a guy just called and wants it. SOLD.

Traditional Farmer: I looked on line and see where some of the D-14 drawbars are wider and then narrow down to attach to the tractor. Mine does not do that and My brother has one that is just like mine. His is on a D-15. Was the wider one an optional one???

Was just what I NEEDED, not worn and made for a WD-45 (Mine was Stolen and I need one)..!!

That and the Sub-soiler it was on (WD-type Sub-soiler)..

Ron..

My D15II has the support which widens at the bottom. That was standard. I just don't know when they started. AC was famous for making running changes, even between models and series.

From a previous comment this wasn't for the WD-45.

Sure you don't NEED a swinging drawbar for a Cub? Maybe a layoff bar foot? ;) I still have those.

D10 D12 and CA snap coupler hitches are totally different demensions from the rest
WD/WD45 are some different but the equipment will interchange from the D14,15,17 and 19.
The D19 snap coupler and the 190 snap coupler drawbars are like none of the rest.

I have some WD/WD45 drawbars but shipping would be pretty expensive I expect. That drawbar in the picture was for a CA and too narrow for a WD and slot to pin hole length is shorter on a CA than on the WD or D series.

(quoted from post at 13:39:36 04/12/15) Are you thoroughly confused? Or purposely giving out misinformation? As in the shifter knob on the AC forum. The CA drawbar hanger is wide. Wide enough that it is supported by the lift arms, with braces going forward.

The CA drawbar used 2 different bails. Older pin hitch style used the wide bail that mounted by disconnecting the cylinders and dropping the lift arms straight down. Later CA with the snap coupler hitch used the narrow bail that attached to brackets under the transmission.

If anyone is really interested in what the different AC snap coupler drawbars look like
go to ebay and type in Allis Drawbar they have a good asortment of CA,B,WD/WD45,D15,14,17 and D19 for sale there.
Pretty obvious what this one is.

Still misinformation on Ebay....this ad says it fits D17 SIV and D19. It will not fit a D19! The part that slides in above the snap coupler is a lot narrower on a D19.

(quoted from post at 17:26:06 04/12/15) Looks like the original from my D19 before I put a 3pt. on it.

The D19 drawbar is similar in design to this one....looks nothing like the op.

That would explain what didn"t look right- I was looking for the holes for the two positions. Noticed it wasn"t two pieces.
