Shop floor sealer

Has anyone put a sealer on the cement in their shop? Was wondering what to use and how long it takes to dry? Cement was done last October.

We used a product called TK 26 from Concrete Products in Sioux city on the floor of our fire hall. Our trucks are older and usually leak a little something, but the sealer has held up so far. It is a bit expensive but good quality, I think 26℅ solids

I have sealed the floors in both shops I built. Any spots that have oil or grease will have to be cleaned. The sealer will not stick to any petroleum products.

Here is what I have used:
MasterKure CC 250 SB

I went to the local big box store and got something for the job for my new shop at the time. Put it down as directed. Had plastic underlayment to control ground moisture.

In short it was a waste of time. So this time I still used the underlayment which works fine as long as you aren't going through a temperature change with high humidity.....floor and everything else sweats regardless....it's air temp and moisture, not dirt temp/moisture.

So my new shop floor looks like the old one. I usually have a spill every time I change the oil on something. Just happens with the best laid plans. I gave up on it and said ok there'll be a mess. I put the absorber on the mess and after it has done it's job the spot is not nearly as bad looking as I had anticipated. Besides, like anything else, once the new wears off who cares. Yeah I keep a tidy shop but there are limits and it IS a workplace.....mine is anyway.

HTH,
Mark

My boss sealed the floor in his shop. Used clear sealer, works well for easy sweeping, wiping up oil. But gasoline will do a number on it!

First off its concrete, concrete comes on trucks cement comes in bags! Lol, my old boss used to tell me that. He used a product called cure n seal in the 90s when he built his shop. Still holding up well today. Can't say if he ever rescealed it thought.

Many concrete finishers use the cure and seal on it. You will have to know if anything and/or what it may be was used on there now because some others may not work with it. My floors have the Euclid cure & seal on them. If gas or brake clean get on it the sealer is gone right now. I checked into putting something over it and it all seemed like you had to strip this off first.

Hey Alan.

You might look into water glass (sodium metasilicate).

It is kinda old tech but I have researched it and I am going to do the floors in my shop with it.

I believe Rutland chemical company sells it direct.

BTW Old (Rich) on this site clued me in on this.
