Well my wife as of October 2014 has taken over my record keeping as of this year well it looks like I have spent a lot of money fixing up some more junk to farm with! Better not quit my outside job yet!

My wife does the record keeping to. When she took it over she set up her own system for filing paperwork and also started using quick books. I'm the old pull out a paper ledger and look up the info kind of guy so I'm always asking her for this or that information. So just a word of advice, make sure you know her system and were and how she files everything.

Thankfully my wife does the books for our farm. I just have to ask for the info I want, and she can come up with it. All the way back to 1981. In my youth I got a bit lippy about her book keeping, and soon discovered she had a way better handle on recording then I ever would. Now I just spend the money,she pays the bills,and I get took to the wood shed sometimes. So long as I can keep the cash coming in, I am safe.

My wife has nothing to do with our family finances, nor will she ever.

Thirty years ago, I let her handle the finances for a year while I was busy at something else, and it took me several years to get the mess cleaned up and everything straightened out again.

I now have my own checking account and savings account and she can't access either one. I pay all the bills and she can do whatever she wants with her Social Security check.

Don't get me wrong, though, she has positive qualities that far outweigh her financial ineptitude.

I have know some good wimmins that did a good job there trait was they were a shark and went after every dollar like you stole it from them...

My wife did income tax mine was always on the back burner and the last to get done... I have hired mine done the last 4 years it would take a good wife to get my books away from me and my tax prepare person...

I have got it down to about 5 hr. a mo. to get everything in order pay all the bills and taxes... When my wife had a stroke I was lost I have learned how to get my stuff in order and would recommend every self employed man do the same... I don't have to ask were anything is I know...

I do my books only once a year at tax time,takes 2 days tops. I only keep track of the income and expense statement for the farm, the household stuff goes straight into the burning barrel.

The few bills i get get paid as soon as they come in the mail
Whatever i buy for farm inputs gets paid for on the spot, i haven't bought on credit for years.
