This was at the auction too. This did have a tiny bit of green paint here and there that looks for real. The hitch has some sort of flip over lock up deal with a lift pin to unlock it. Also some recoil springs. Other than the back tire it was a very nice plow. All there and not very much wear. If I needed a plow I could have taken this one home. I forgot to ask how much it went for . Sorry Jeffcat

I had a plow like that with the 3 cog wheel on the hitch. It came unhitched while I was on the road just after turning a corner. It ended up in the ditch. Sold it shortly after that.

Can't you take it off and make a normal kind of hitch? This plow was in very nice shape. Just a good coat of rust but little wear. what is it?

The hitch is built that way so that if the plow hits something in the ground the hitch will trip and unhook from the drawbar thus preventing broken parts.

Jeffcat, that is a 44 plow. JD made two hitch options. One released when you hit a stone. The other had a bigger spring and absorbed the shock but did not unhook.

I restored one of them about 5 years ago. Good plow. By the way the tail wheel looks jacked up on that one.

There was more than the 2 hitch options. They also came with the knee knocker hitch used only on the hand clutch tractors and that part is never to be found as most were thrown away and if not left on tractor when tractor left.

ell yes, I remember that one! Hahahaha.
And also for non rocky areas they sold a plane hitch with no protection. (Or maybe it had a pin that would shear? )
