case vai shifter

My 1951 case VAI keeps jumping out of reverse. Is this a problem with the reverse latch on the shifter or is there another reason?

You may have a bent reverse shifting fork. The bushings on the counter shaft for reverse could also be bad. It's pretty easy to remove the cover holding the shifting assy and take a look at things inside the tranny. Scroll down to Case forum where all us Case guys usually hang out. Lots of Case brainpower there.

The reverse fork does not look bent. I tried another shifter assembly with the same result, however I found the spring on the reverse latch was in pieces and therefore I do not think it worked at all. I am not sure what to check for in the bushings that you talk about.
Thanks for the reply
