John Deere #225 offset Disc

I have a chance to get these disc at a great price they are 7ft wide does anyone know if these disc are good for plowed ground .
rotating a hay field to soy beans
any info would be appreciated

An offset disk is more of a primary tillage tool rather than a finishing disk. If your going to just disk the hay ground than the JD 225 would be fine but if your going to plow first then you should just buy a regular tandem disk.

Thanks for your help was confused about its use and the price was really cheap

Although an offset is a primary tillage tool I see no reason why it couldn't be used for secondary tillage. If when trying to use it the 2nd time over if it penetrates too deep just install some cylinder stops on the hyd cylinder to limit penetration.. Yrs ago I plowed soil twice with an offset & sowed small grain with a drill for a friend that a JD offset and that was the only tillage tool he owned.
 
if it has adjustable blade sections and depth adjustments yes it can be used for either purpose only thing you have to use them similar to a plow to fill the furrow left by the back section,daddy had a taylor-way then switched to a bush hog because the bush hog had slide adjustable sections instead of bolted and independent depth settings on the lift wheels after he switched from a trail type gang disc without transport wheels to the off sets he never used another gang disc I would like to find a 20' offset bush hog i'd probably park the jd gang disc,beware of some of the offset frame designs I won't get into name calling but I've seen some goofy built ones,years ago the most popular brands around home were Taylor-way,Rome,Bush Hog and Athens if I remember correct.
