My grandfather told me of a couple barns in the area that burned down at threshing time because of sparks.

My wife and I were at Threshermen's reunion at Kinzers PA two years ago when a VERY high dollar steamer was on the bakers fan. The owner's son was at the controls, and it got away from him for a minute. We felt little particles landing on us. It was little pieces of coal that the draft had drawn through the Fire box, but fortunately they had cooled before they hit us.

I was at the Oakley show in Michigan qwatching the steam engine power the sawmill and some ash flew out and landed on my nice jacket and burnt a hole in it. Al71

The spark show is a big attraction at the threshermans show up this way Google WMSTR spark show there's a few YouTube vids that are pretty good!
