tractor collections you know of

Just wondering about big tractor collections! What's the biggest you heard of? I heard a jd collection of 6 or 700! And if you have a 50 plus tractor collection what's it like how do you keep track of them all and keep all the batterys charged and keep them all up and running! Keeping 10 up and running in the field seems to be a job for me anymore! If you fix all the little stuff!

Back in the 1970- 80s I was collecting and buying and selling, accumulated aboot 50 tractors and other machinery, they were getting to be a full time job keeping them running. I had an auction in 1989 and let loose of all but three or two and started in the garden tractor collecting. Have sold several of them as it too can get out of hand.
Back in those days I could buy running tractors from $25.00 and up. Scrape iron wasn't bringing mucha then.
Some times I spent more hauling them than the tractors cost when purchased. I kept the road busy betwixt Indiana and Fargo, North Dakota.

I think its the keller family up in wisconsin have a huge john deere collection. Lot of rare jds too.

There are some collecters around my area that have 20 - 30 and they all run. They don't by 1 battery , they by a pallet full -L.O.L.

Glenester, You are rite about Walter Keller in Wi. He has several hundred John Deeres . Some of then are one of a kind, only. Lots of very rare ones too.
Also he has some uncommon Minneapolis- Molines . We were there many yrs ago, well worth the trip! clint

I have a couple thousand piece collections some of the rarest John deeres and lots of other brands even have a case steam engine 3 big buds and a ford Steiger built 4wd . An MM comfort tractor and that's just to name a few.

My opinion on large collections would have to be the Gary Philips estate sale in Bridgeport, Nebraska back in 2007. 7 Day auction and I attended 3 days of it. I still have the sale catalog. Just could not believe how many tractors and other stuff that the man had. I heard that there were about 1 to 2 thousand tractors alone.
