Leave bagging system for 1980 IH Cub Cadet

At thirty five years old, I would look for a tractor with the bagger and ask if you could buy it separately from the tractor. You might have to buy a tractor to get a complete bagger system, then sell the extra tractor.

Boy you are not kidding about a bagger. New would be an easy $500.oo if you want a heart attach. Good luck finding one. Another way would be to pick up a good used Trac Vac. Serious!

The mower decks on the IH Cub Cadets don't throw grass/leaves fast
enough to use the bagger from a new mower. You have to use a system
with a separate engine driven blower. Makers of those are Trac-Vac
as mentioned, also Agri-Fab, Peco, Ohio Steel Fabricators, and a
few others. I made my own 15-16 years ago patterened after one of
the larger Trac-Vac's. Works good on my 2+ acres with 60+
trees/bushes.

If you don't have a large yard and a lot of trees, a pull behind
lawn sweeper works good, but ends up being more work emptying the
basket on the sweeper.

Pick up an old 8hp blower and build your own. The most expensive part for this was the $100 trac vac adapter for the deck. Been using it for about 25 years and it's been "re-engineered for 3 different tractors.

(quoted from post at 20:02:36 03/25/15) Does anyone know where I might buy a bagging system for a Cub Cadet 1000? Thanks, Tim

Thank you all for your speedy and insightful reply. I really respect the tractor and had hoped not to buy a new one just to accommodate a bagging system. I will make/buy a separate sweeping system to tow behind. Thanks again!
