My Farmall Cub

OK., I have a question. I changed the voltage regulator, and polarized the generator. The Battery is now pegged Charging, all the way over on charging. Is this correct? Is it over charging. PLEASE ADVISE!

Thanks :?

If you have terminals on that generator one is "A" and the other is "F" . Unhook the wire from F and run the tractor. If the amp gauge goes to neutral {that's zero] then most likely the generator is fine, You could have a shorted field wire or you hooked something up wrong on the regulator, or you could have a stuck regulator. Or a bad regulator. Seen all of these over the years. Do the first test and get back to us.

Oh crud I read your note again and I think you gots a problemo.. When you polarize a generator you should "FLASH" it. That means a wire and just go super fast ka zap kind of touch it. You most likely welded the points inside of the regulator. The first test I told you ,,try it and get back to us.

If the battery is fully charged, you should only be charging about 3 amps. Pull the cover off the voltage regular and see if the points are free. If they are damaged, you may have to take a nail emery board and file them a little.
