magneto for f 12 question

My friend has a magneto repair manual. In the manual its says that the resistance for coil should not be over 6000 ohms.

The coil in my magneto read 12000 cold and over
13000 when we warmed it up with a hair dryer. He
said that the coil must be bad, so I ordered a new one. It reads 11700 cold and 12800 after being warmed up.

My question is--------Is the 6000 ohms resistance
figure that the manual says correct or am I missing something.

Yes, I am the guy that has been on here before with questions regarding this tractor. I think
I mentioned that I got it running fine. It will start when it is cold, but after it has warmed up
it will not even fire. I am talking about cranking.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Both resistance and impedance are measured in ohms. Resistance is the test with a load and dc current applied. Impedance is the loads reaction to a voltage with any frequency applied to it. The 13k ohm rating on your coil is most likely impedance
