Oil boiler update

I posted the other day about my oil boiler not starting, as I stated I mostly heat with the wood boiler, but the oil is nice on cool days when I don't want to keep burning wood. I bought this Utica boiler brand new in 2001, I don't think it's burned more than 4 tanks of oil, so I have never had it serviced. Today I replaced the oil filter cartridge, bled it and found on the interweb you have to hold the reset button for 45 seconds, the flashing green light went out and it fired right up and ran much smoother. Another day ill run my brush I got when I bought the boiler threw the chambers.

Glad it's working for you now. They really do need regular maintenance to keep working at their peak, lesson I learned long ago.

Do yourself a favor and get it serviced. My neighbor does AC and heat and I have helped him a quite few times. Oil burners are not that big of a deal to adjust but there are flame "meters" to set them up. It actually reads how the flame is burning. If your's was never set up you should get it done. From the factory don't cut it. Air to fuel mix also needs to be set. The nozzels can also be changed out to different burn rates. Fine mist or one gallon per hour and all around the place! You did good to change the filter and that may be all of it. If you REALLY know what you are doing you can clean the atomizer nozzel if need be. Don't break the spark igniter probes! Jeffcat
