Selling on Ebay

Anyone have any experience selling large items on Ebay? I've sold quite a few little things but never a tractor. Relocating in a couple months and can't take it with me. Yes, the 4 wheeler IS going with me. Not sure if I like the fact they can return $ to a disgruntled buyer and then charge the CC you have on file to recoup their $. Or am I being overly cautious?

My thought is that no one is going to pay the kind of money
you really should get for a nice looker like that on eBay. They
sure aren't going to offer big bucks for something sight
unseen. They are looking for cheap parts tractors were
condition isn't as much of an issue. If I were you, I'd try
posting here on the photo ads and try craigslist.

I'd go Craig's List. Cash only. Don't hold it w/o a sizable down-payment as way to many people change their minds and just don't come back. I even had one leave a $10 deposit on a $200 item and not come back.

I have found ebay works well for even larger items. I have shipped a few skidsteers across the country that someone bought from me on ebay sight unseen. Most of my ebay sales come from people 2-5 hours away. They see it on ebay, contact me, then hop in the truck and drive over to see it. We do the deal in person and its never actually an ebay transaction. I have sold around 50 skidsteers. Sales are almost exactly 1/3 ebay, 1/3 craigslist,1/3 local farm paper...

I have sold vintage cars, trucks, bikes and camp trailers on Ebay to all over the USA and to 4 continents. Even though you should say that shipping is to be setup by the buyer, they will ask how much to send it to somewhere. Refer them to U-ship. Provide weight and dimensions. If going overseas they wiĺl need to know if it fits in a container which is 7'7" wide, and height 7'9" standard and 8'9" hicube . Note if it is drivable or not. I demand a paypal $500 non refundable deposit within 24 hours, and full payment due within 7 days or on pickup if i get a sense that they are sincere and picking it up themselves. This weeds out most of the flakes. I do not accept checks or money orders, it's cash usually, and suggest that i can receive it at the bank in front of cameras if they want. Just make sure you are out of the wind when you count it.

Last of all, be certain this not the one you will later regret selling. That is a nice tractor

You can compare Ebay and PayPal fees to auctioneer fees before you decide. Try Craig's List first, no fees.

Ebay changes the rules constantly. I had sold several Large items on there before they went to the paypal only B.S. and said you could not take cash upon pick up.
Maybe it changed again as it sounds like some of the below people are getting a deposit and then taking cash on pick up ???
Fees can get high too.

You might try the old trick of listing it and hope someone offers you what you want to stop the auction.

That's my thought. Any time I call on something on CL,it's already gone. I even managed to trade a common Deere for a super rare Oliver by putting an ad on there wanting to trade.

sad...
List it here, and CL
Theoretically, ( ) if I put it on ebay,
I would put the reserve so high it wouldn't sell.
no shipping, local pickup only. I just want locals to see it.
With that tractor, believe me, when they see it they will contact you directly.
Actually selling with ebay fees and paypal...no
That nice tractor, I want cash in my hand before it leaves my yard.
If they can take the money back, it's not cash in hand.

Personally I'd store it until I could figure out a way to have it at my new place. If I need a 4-wheeler....I need a tractor.
HOA at the new place? build an approved shed and then keep it in there. Even if I just pulled it out to polish it and drive down the driveway to the mailbox...it's still mine.

ps curious what it brings as I have posted pics of its brother..
.....which I will [i:1f142e7968]never[/i:1f142e7968] sell.
(I've lived places where I had to keep my Harley in the living room. Guess with a chainsaw, I could get my tractor in there too!)

As others have said list it here first it'll be a whole lot easier to deal with those interested than on ebay or CL.If you list it on CL make the listing so they have to call you only or you'll be getting a pile of emails from tire kickers with no $$$$.
