Tractor Auction Question

If you have enough auctions to give a good cross section for an average, yes. Just one auction by one auctioneer on one given day,no.

Cash is the key word no financing makes a big difference especially on higher priced items. Also when reading auction prices usually there isn't much of a description to go with the price.Condition
makes a huge difference in something that's older it can be a piece of junk or it can be like new.
Plus with most auction items they are 'as is' no guarantee

I can't tell you how many times I have watched tractors sell at an auction for a lot more than you could ever get by trying to sell it yourself.
Estate sales and retirement sales seem to do the best.
Now consignment sales ? Myself and others may be scared to buy there because of the thought of someone taking their junk there to unload it on someone.

What about online auctions, Is there much of a difference between them and traditional auctions as far as the price they bring?

Depends on the location, tractors and most equipment are always substantially cheaper in the south than in the mid west, just supply and demand at work.

exactly. You can get a ROUGH ballpark idea, but ther just aren't enough old tractors selling to set a meaningful average.

Varies GREATLY between different locations as well.

I WISH I could pay what some of you guys in the Midwest tend pay for something like an IH 706.

I can't even FIND one near me in Mass., and if I ever do, they're asking a whole lot more than I'd pay in Iowa.
