Hello;

My Farmall A does not have a starter rod. If I can find a rod, how does it hook up to the switch? Really new here (just about ignorant) on Farmall. All of your help is greatly appreciated.
regards!

Been a while since I messed with my friends Super A so not sure if it is a push or pull type any more but either way it is a simple put he rod in the hole and put in the cotter pin and your done as long as you have thew hanger for it

Here are photos of areas that I need your help on with my Farmall A. Here the photos show the starter area, alternator, distributor area, post where any switches may go from the driver's seat. I'm not sure if I have a 6 or 12 volt set-up???Not sure about the distributor (magneto?) situation. You guys have a "green one" on your hands for sure but I'm most willing to learn
Thanks for the help!

Gene;
I have just submitted some photos, check them out and if have the correct starter what will you charge me for a rod? There may be other things that I need after you see the photos.
regards,
walt

You are missing 2 parts of the push rod and starter lever that is what pushes the switch down. You have a distributor wit ha ballast resister and also have a Delco 10si alternator making ti a 12 volt negative ground system.

Thanks for the information you supplied. I copied it and will begin a folder on it. I'm "making book" and starting to figure out what parts I need for it before I even begin the projest.

I'll have to go out tomorrow and look at my Super A, but I think the "push switch" on top of the starter is mounted backwards. Old is right, it looks like you are missing two parts. jal-SD

So do you want the original or a longer one to push with your hand. Your tractor came without starter and used a pull sw to kill the mag. Thats where you have a toggle sw now. You also have the 1/4 turn fastenersw for the sheet metal.Your radiator is also different for use of those fasteners. Bottom line your tractor and you can do whatever you like. I can make either rod which ever you want. 25 includes postage.

From the pictures of your tractor it has a super A block. In the second picture below Dist housing and above the steering shaft there are two bolts that hold a cover to where a live hydraulic pump would go.
