needd Continental distributor

Can anyone tell me where I might find a distributor for a Continental F226 flat head engine (6 cylinder)? Trying to get a neighbors Michigan Power Shovel loader going, and in addition to other problems I think the distributor has not be greased since it left the factory 30 or 40 years ago, and the shaft and bushing are useless. The ID plate is missing, but it uses Delco points and Rotor, However this same engine was used in The Massey 101 Senior (SR), and Massey 44-6, both of which were equipped with Autolite distributors according to manuals I have looked at. At this point, any distributor that will fit I will be happy with. Then I can go on to look at other suspected problems.

Any help with where to get another distributor would be appreciated.

The F226 Continental was used in everything from welders to
air compressors to Willys trucks to Kaiser automobiles. You
should be able to order a distributor from any auto parts
warehouse. HTH Sam

Pretty sure I have one you'd be welcome to for the postage. It was working in a Linkbelt crane that threw a valve stem through the block, now fitted with a Ford engine. I can check tomorrow what it says on it.

This information was provided to him in another thread which he apparently chose to ignore.

Not unusual here in this forum.

ould appreciate it if shaft is not to badly worn, If it is an Autolite rather than a Delco I may need the mounting flange and rive shaft that comes out of the head also. Not used to working on these, so do not know.

his is a very rural area and the auto parts stores I checked with hadn't the faintest idea about getting anything that old. Even if they did how is looking for one a neighbor can afford to put on an old nearly worn out rig rather than buying a new one ignoring the information you posted?

I have 1 in a compressor that we've removed the compressor from. If that one doesn't pan out let me know my email's open. Keith

Well, nothing was said about the neighbour being unable to afford to buy quality parts or that it was for an old nearly worn out machine or that you didn't have a knowledgable parts store in your vicinity.

Facts and information are very important.

Thanks to a post on another forum that linked me to Monte's Equipment in Ohio I have learned that my distributor is the correct one for the early F226 and he has one on the way to me. If I understood him correctly the others I have seen are a later version.
Thanks for everyone's help.
