proprietary hydraulic couplers

Have to say one thing about IH couplers over JD 40 series couplers. At least the IH were made so that if the lines popped out you didn't blow your fluid out all over where you have to lean in to hook them back up.

I remember using the chisel plow on our 4020. One of the hoses came unhooked and when I came to the end to raise it I noticed no difference on the engine speed. When I looked back as I raised it, there was a spray of oil everywhere. Lost a lot of oil that way. Sometimes a hooked cornstalk could uncouple them half way.

That tapered cone nose on the JD couplers was apian!!!!! I hated them. I switch everything I can to the newer ISO couplers.

The worst couplers invented must be the flat faced couplers you find on skid steers.
At least with the pioneer and JD couplers one can tap the ball in to release the pressure when the line is under load.
With the flat faced you have to unscrew the coupler from the line.
What a PITA they are

Those skid steer ones about make me crazy. The bale
accumulator is worst because it gets hooked up rarely and
then stays hooked on. I have actually had to have the neighbor
come and help me push them in when my arthritis in my hands
was giving me fits. The springs in those things are so strong!

Just about everything I have is the 40 series JD couplers. I
have just bought a handful of adapters to use the equipment
on the 7800. It kind of freaks me out that you don't need to use
a lever to unhook the new stuff. I've never had one pop out so
it must work.

There is nothing worse than wearing hydraulic fluid. It
immediately closes all of your pores and makes you feel like it
is 100 degrees hotter.

These take the pioneer coupler on the 4840. I've yet to have the 4020 or 4430 Chuck a tapered coupler and spew oil out. The boss's boy had the pocket of his hoodie filled with hydraulic fluid while trying to get a disk hooked up yesterday. Looked like he peed himself when.he took it off.

I hate the flat faced loader couplers mentioned below, too.

Those ISO Deere are the same thing IH had 40 years ago on the older tractors. Ih had that tip point. It will still work with the ISO and both will plug in to each other. The Tapered Deere plain sucked. IH had their problems with the one that was larger and had a lever to uncouple them under pressure. Though they would couple under pressure pretty good.
