Case 580SE wiring

Wondering if anyone has the breakdown on a wiring harness for a Case 580E or SE.

There is an 8 pin connector under the cab by your right foot that is corroded enough I need to rebuild and run new wires for it. The starter solenoid and alternator go through it. Plus a few other engine sensors I think. It attaches to the 8 pin that the arrow is pointing to.

I have an owners manual, just not a service manual for a breakdown.

I have repaired several of those harnesses. Anymore I usually just use GOOD waterproof shrink butt connectors. Just eliminate the entire plug. Case put the plug there for assembly and parts supply reasons. There is no reason for the plug electrically.

So just match one wire at a time. There usually is enough length to just trim the wires close to the back of each plug and then reconnect with the better shrink butt connectors.

Thanks JD.
I figured that might be one of my few options. The connector looks far from waterproof.

I thought about using the butt connectors and new wire from there, then reterminating at the solenoid, starter and sensors. But the wire looks good so far.

Rick I have had far fewer troubles with good water proof shrink butt connectors. They are not cheap, about $1 each for the good ones.

Those wire plugs just corrode too fast. I have used just about every kind of spray, paste, or grease on them. They still cause troubles.

Agree 100%. That connector is buried up in there pretty good. I plan on only fixing it once and fixing it right. Ive learned the hard way in the past :)
