This tractor has a Rockwell T 223 C 1 DIVORCED TRANSFER CASE. It is a hi low range case with 4x4 that can be taken out of gear.
I was wondering if it is all GEAR driven or if they had some CHAIN in them.????

thank you

Thank you for the info. Bob ND??? There is a rythmic sp. bump when moving forward. No bump or noise in reverse.
I have the transfer case unhooked from the tranny and the front and rear axles. Turning it by hand I can hear and feel a slight bump-noise at the same spot on a revolution. Was told it is a bearing going bad---would a bad tooth give those results???? Haven't opened it up yet........

It's tough to say... certainly could be a bad gear tooth, but also could be a bearing... If the ball retainer breaks in a bearing and the balls all bunch up together it can definitely result in a noise and jerk because the shaft then rotates off of it's central axis.

If you have ruled out driveline and axle problems, you're probably gonna have to do a complete teardown and examination of the xfer case. FUN!

It will be interesting to hear what you find.
