There's a farmall H going in the auction and as we were lining them up the engine started locking up and it won't turn over at all now not with the crank either it has oil any off hand ideas?

See if the engine is filled with gasoline. if full of gas in the tank, it can fill the engine and lock it up. Jim

Well it was running when parked. LOL

Likely a lower end issue. Like rod or main bearing. If it had not been run for a long time it might not have been oiling the bottom end.

An Farmal "H" is not a high price tractor to start with so it just got a whole bunch cheaper.

The cost to repair the mo0tor can easily be more than the whole tractors is worth.

Did it lock up while running, or did it lock up when you tried to start it? If locked when tried to start, the starter drive is probably locked into the flywheel ring gear. If so, put it in 5th and grab hold of a rear wheel and rock forward and backward. May need to loosen starter mounting bolts a round or two.

I suggest that you bid on it based on weight - basically scrap price. A locked up engine can get very expensive. Even assuming that the block is ok, the potential for it becoming a money pit is quite high.

The only H I was ever around, it belonged to my Grandfather, was constantly having the starter locking up. He would put it in 5th gear and rock a rear tire and it would let loose. He was a large burly man and I was a kid. If that is the problem it might take two men.
