OT-best set up for a clothes line

I have a cellar post with 3/4 threaded rod through the top on each end and was wondering best type of hardware to use on each end to tighten clothes line?

Something close. . I just got done restringing my flag pole. Rope rotted through. Had to be up at the top of an old shakeyyyyy aluminum ladder and the pulley is still another six feet up. Took three coat hangers apart and soildered them together. Put a little curve at the end and a tiny hook end. Reaching up as you the ladder and everything else is swaying. Got the fish wire through the pulley and reached up with another wire and HOOKED it! Hardware store got 23 cents/foot for marine grade white braded rope! Job done for the next fifteen years!!! I'm getting toooooo old for this crap.

A turnbuckle on one end of each line works pretty well.

I took down a set that was anchored in 12 inch diameter of concrete 24 inches deep. The pole extended another foot deeper into the ground. They didn't have any other anchors or braces. The lines were still tight enough, but the wires were too rusty to hang clothes on them anymore.

 I know what you mean. Few years back, the flag and rope got hung up in the pulley at the top of one of our flagpoles at work. Nobody wanted to mess with it and it was making an awful racket, so I grabbed an extension ladder (20+ ft) and leaned it against the pole. Had a guy hold it at the bottom and I started up. Halfway up with the thing swaying with each step, I saw the company owner pull up in his new Lincoln. Stopped and thought "no way am I risking my life for this guy". So I climbed down and told the maintenance guy to "call somebody".

A custodian at a school was killed that way. He was at the top
of the ladder and the pole bent in the middle. The fast trip
down got him. I'm guessing it was weakened by rust internally.
