I bought a 1993 Chevy half ton with a 6.2 diesel and 700r4 tranny? I want to know if I can wore a torque converter lockup switch as it gets kinda annoying around 40-45mph going in and outa lockup. Thanks in advance

Are you sure this is a '93? In '93 they switched to the electrics; maybe a '92, perhaps?

If it is indeed an old 700, they were a hangy-bangy nightmare; especially so in a diesel.

I'd replace that 3-4 switch with a 52 lb pressure switch for a 200R4. It will raise the lockup speed enough to where you can live with it.

First thing tho is to make darned sure the vacuum pump and vacuum regulator (and electrical switch) are working properly. Their job is to hold that lock-up out until the engine is at a low load.

Been so long since I did that can't remember what I did. Guess I could trace the wires back from my toggle switch.

I run a 700R in my 1971 Chevy pickup that I occasionally drive in the summer.

Mounted the toggle switch out towards the end of the steering column shift lever so it was easy to reach.

Sure is nice to unlock that converter ahead of time when you want to get ready to pass someone or go around a curve or over the railroad tracks.

Would not of wanted it any other way.

Technically its the 4L60E but the wire you are looking for is a tan with black stripe. It's probably best to find this wire near the trans since it would be the only tan wire going into the trans. This wire is for TCC control from the PCM, 12v is supplied to actuate the TCC solenoid for lockup.

Alan, it deffinetly is a '93 so i guess it probably is a 4l60. I didn't know when they switched over
