Update= Ford 3000 won't crank over

Finally got around to checking the crank out some more, found the bearing on #1 rod had spun. Thanks for all of input and help.

Thanks for letting us know why the tractor wouldn't start. I am the poster who said he would not bet the farm but would bet the fence that it had spun a bearing.
Now if you are lucky the crank won't be so bad that it can't be turned. It cost me $900 for a new crank for a Massey that spun a bearing. As I remember, you are repairing the tractor for another person who is hoping to get out of the repair as cheaply as possible but if it were my tractor I would do a complete rebuild. It will never be cheaper than right now.
 
I ordered a reground crank today with bearings. I had to get the o.k. from the person that owns it. Now to finish tearing it down and checking everything else out. Somebody had been in this engine before. Also while checking things out I discovered that it had the wrong dipstick in it, the reason for only having 3 quarts of oil in it. I told the owner about that, so I will make sure that it has the right one in it.
