Enough of the cold and snow here in Ontario, the wife and I are off to Texas on Wednesday for ten days. Land in Oklahoma City, renting a car, then doing part of Route 66, thence to Canyon, Texas, to spend a few days exploring the canyon and area. Then to central Texas, near Fredricksburg, Lukenbach, LBJ Ranch. river Walk and Alamo in San Antonio, then to Galveston along the coast to soak up some sun and heat. North to Fort Worth, the Frontier Museum and then back to OC. Home by the 21st; sure hope it has warmed up here by then.
If you see a middle aged couple, pale skinned looking like they just came out of hibernation stop and say hi---we may just be able to swap a few old tractor stories!
Pour on the heat!

Thats sounds great. Hope yall have a awesome time. Be safe. we will be looking for picture when you return. Please send some of sunshine and dry soil LOL.

If you head up I-45 to Dallas across to Ft Worth. Watch your speed when you pass Ennis. Speed traps all the way to Dallas. Wilmer is the worst.Hides under the bridge.

Centsh We did the canyon last year and I can tell you it is a hidden treasure. Some one on here steered us to it and it was a very nice trip. The poster also told us about a museum there at Canyon Tx. I think it is called Texas A&M but should not be hard to find . Main street on the right. Went there thinking I would spend a couple of hours. Spent a long day and could have stayed longer, be sure and hunt it up

Come on down, you'll be in my back yard!

Warm weather will be here to greet you!

LBJ Ranch is great, plan on spending the day to see it all! Take the house tour! Check out the German farm house display!

Try to get by San Jacinto, see the Battleship Texas, go inside, unbelievable that much steel can float! But take the back roads, go across on the Lynchburg ferry, avoid the Houston traffic at all cost!

Galveston has some great museums, Seawolf Park is my favorite, Seaport Museum with the tall ship is amazing!

Frontier of Flight Museum? That's in Dallas, never been, want to go. While you're there take in the JFK 6th Floor Dealey Plaza Museum. It will go well with the LBJ visit.

Ft. Worth...Stockyards? BTDT, Only if you're into tourist trap prices and smokey bars. Check this out instead!

Drove thru Dallas last Wed, right after the ice. Galveston was in the 60s, cloudy, foggy, thr4u Sunday. Cruise to Jamaica (half sun), Grand Cayman (sunny), Cozumel (sunny)...back to cloudy/rainy Galveston on Sunday. Rain today in Houston/Dallas. Those roads/traffic...terrible. Blew a tire in a Galveston chuckhole!

Fields have standing water. Sights in Galveston already mentioned were nice trips. Looking for a few more the next couple days in Dallas area. Still beats the minus 15 we had the day before we left home.

Ya'll come. You will be in my back yard also. I'm 60 miles from Galveston. If you just have to go to Houston to avoid traffic horrors try to go through mid day. While in San Antionio visit the riverwalk and the Hall of Horns at the Lone Star brewery. Moody gardens in Galveston very interesting. You will find all Texans don't own a ranch with oil wells, ride a horse or wear cowboy boots.

While in Fredericksburg, visit the <a href="http://www.pacificwarmuseum.org/your-visit/admiral-nimitz-museum/">Admiral Nimitz Museum</a>.

While in Galveston, visit the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lone_Star_Flight_Museum">Lone Star Flight Museum</a>.

While in Galveston, have dinner at <a href="http://www.gaidos.com/">Gaido's Seafood Restaurant</a>.

Hope y'all have a good trip and drive safe.

The sun is just now trying to poke through in Schertz. Temps promise to be in the mid twentys (degrees sea) all this week and most of next week

m in Houston now.....rain finally stopped last night and it's just overcast and in the mid 60s. So far the forecast doesn't show any sun for the rest of the week.

Don't forget about Bandera, TX or New Braunfels! Both are cool little towns. New Braunfels has Gruene Hall, a really cool old dance hall. I love Texas, if it all goes to he** up here in PA, that's where I'm headed.

another thing.....spring break started this week so if the sun is out the beaches will be a nightmare. If I were planning a beach trip I wouldn't choose Galveston. The beaches are way nicer further south. I always go to Port Aransas but not during spring break. I go in April so you can actually get to the beach and not have to share it with 50,000 people.

When you re in San Antonio and if you get a chance, 45 minutes south , we have lots of tractors to look at. Moline's, Olivers, and John Deeres. Some restored and most in their work clothes. Have a safe and wonderful trip!
