Never seen gas and diesel prices only $.20 apart in a very long time.

I was just talking to a cousin yesterday about the gap closing. I paid $2.49 for gas by the way.
The wife wanted to go to Wallyworld today,I saw gas for $2.43. A far cry from the $1.64 a month or so ago.

In the great state of IOWAY, they put another $.10 tax on road fuels effective today for highway maintenance. Every station I saw raised it at least 15 cents, and a lot of them 20 cents. My question is who gets the extra 5 or 10 cents????

Said they are switching to summer gas over the next week, always a dime higher but better mpg.

Not really sure what the diff is in summer or winter gasoline. Not sure if its a northern thing or all over?

$2.18 today at Costco in Des Moines, that's not bad as our ten cent a gallon tax increase went in effect Sunday.

Been on a steady uphill climb around here. Up to $2.29 yesterday.
Keep meaning to ask this, when the prices dropped my mileage fell too. Did anyone else notice their MPG go down?

In Muscatine, gas was $2.13, the day Gov Braindead sign the bill it jumped to $2.39. Today it is $2.49. Wife and I drove south of Muscatine on 61 and gas down by the airport was $2.19, go figure. Chris

Yes, my wife mentioned it did the same in her Jeep. I checked my Chrysler, it went down 2.8 mpg.

That is about what mine dropped. I check all the time and it went from 20 to around 17MPG I checked my filters etc. and even accounting for bad weather (snow always brings it down) it has stayed there.

The difference between summer and winter gas is vapor pressure. Summer gas has a lower Reid Vapor Pressure than winter gas, meaning it's less volatile. In general, you can use summer gas year-round. Summer gas is slightly more expensive because refineries have less flexibility in what they blend into the fuel. The EPA, state and local agencies set a maximum RVP for fuel in a particular locality; see the page below to find what it is in your area.

Lowest it ever got here was about $2.35 for gas and diesel about a buck more than that. I'd gladly pay what you're paying now. Of course NYS has the highest fuel taxes in the USA...
