Picture for Sweetfeet

I know you like old buildings, so I photographed this old one in York for you. It was in use as a house and shop in 1607 and has been in constant use ever since. The date of first buiding is not known. I hope you like it. Phil

Thanks, Phil. I do like it! I also like the brick building to the right of it, with the ornate trim on the lower level.

Living quarters above one's business was common here as well, back in the day. It surely made for an easy commute to work, right? :)

I always enjoy seeing other parts of the world and even the U.S., because we don't travel much at all.

OJ, yes, it is a pub, but quite a modern by the standards in York.It was built in about 1750.

I am sorry about the Pizza express, that building is only about 150 years old. I have mentioned before that some of the things we import from the USA are not always what we want to see, like reality shows and Starbucks. Still enjoying McGyver, though. Phil

been to york once Phil, have a brother who lives near pocklington... nice place, but not been there in 10 or so years now... sometimes i miss the old country (i moved to canada in '98), don't miss the crowds though (miss a proper pint most of all... the canned/bottled stuff isn't quite the same as draught)

I'm quite sure I was in the that pub when my daughters and I traveled through York. The suspended statue looks familiar.

We spent an enjoyable few days in York, and wished we would have had more time to visit. I found the cathedral especially interesting when one considers the skills of the time that were required to build it. The restoration being undertaken was impressive.
