Radio's for Tractors.

I was wondering if there is such a thing as an A.m.-F.M. tractor radio for a tractor that runs on 6 volt? I have a A.M radio on a Case 400 that is 6 volt. There just isn't anything interesting to listen to on a A.M radio.

I don't know if there is anymore or not. I've got an old fender mount here that had two switches under a plate. One for positive or negative ground, one for 6 or 12 volt. Motorola I think.

In the late 90's you could still get pn. ZAE1000LTR from CIH. It was a cowl or fender-mount AM-FM radio with a single 5X7" speaker (with no cover) that could be used on either 6 or 12 volts and positive or negative ground. I think they were made by Audiovox. That part number subs to ZAETRA4500HD and you'd have to ask at a dealer if it still has the same or similar specifications.

As I posted on an another (LED headlight) thread, there's all sorts of small electronic converters on the market now that step up 6 VDC to run 12 VDC electronic loads.

I saw this post after I had posted my question.

rr, If it is a Motorola, that is a good one. Don't know when they became 'unavailable'. In the 60's/70's I worked at an electronics shop where we sold a ton of them. (I was in repair).

Not to discourage you if a radio is what you want but, there are noise canceling headphones out there that you can plug into them with a smart phone, radio, mp3 player, etc and listen to what ever you want without having the volume up loud in order to drown out the tractor. I think they are in the $30 range to start.

Dad and I took a radio out of an old Italian car back in the 1960s and mounted it on our Farmall H fender.

When we turned it on we couldn't understand a word that was said.

I use headphones from rural king about $50 they do a.m f.m fit
nicely last quite awhile between changing batteries. Our
mowing tractors are diesel but can hear the radio comfortably.
When not mowing we use them for shooting, great muffs for
that too

As a kid many years ago, I remember an AM/FM tractor radio that we put on our John Deere G. It had two switches on the bottom. One could switch between 6 volts and 12 volts. The other switch for for positive or negative ground.
Don't remember the brand, and I'm sure it's been unavailable for many years, but I do know it liked to crackle on AM from the ignition. Of course, dad may not of had the G tuned up too good.

Gene,
You old fox, how ya doing?
I gotta to go Michigan in springtime to get a nice Cockshutt 30. See you in June for the big ride.
