Oliver 88 rear tire size

I am new to this site. I hope I am asking my question in the correct forum. I have an Oliver88 and I pulled with 15.5x38 Firestone Field and Road tires. Pulls decent on hard tracks;not so good on soft tracks. Switched to 18.4x34 Firestones. Does extremely well on soft track. Can't run these tires in any other club. My question is this: Would 16.9xx38 work as well? That seems to be the standard size I have to use in my area, Ohio.

A good pair of 16.9 X 38 tires should be just what you are looking for.
Sadly enough, my Oliver 88 generally powers out with 15.5 X 38 on a hard track (sigh)

16.9 are a bunch taller than 15.5 gear you up more than you would think.

My brother had 16.9x38s on his 88 then tried 16.9x34s and they seemed to pull better then the 38s and you can use the same rims that you already have. Chuck

What's wrong with using 14.9-38's on a 88, that's what they had on them when they were tested at Nebraska?...Actually they wore 13-38's, same as modern 14.9-38's
