YT store prices

I only have a carburetor kit to base this post on, but went to YT store for a carb kit, for my WD45, and they wanted $23.00, and change for the kit, and It would be however many days out, that their shipper felt like. I called my local NAPA dealer, and asked about the same kit, and not only could they supply it, but they had it in the store before closing this evening, However they were $3.00 higher than YT. I guess quick availability won out, over price, the carb is back togeather, and mounted on the tractor. Yes dark did catch me mounting the carb.

We have an excellent NAPA, run by a two or three real old guys, truly great. Previous NAPA's in town, barely had grade-8 bolts or paint. Somehow, the NAPA's vary in excellence.

2 years ago I needed a starter drive for jubilee. Napa boys couldn't find it in their books. I gave them YT's part number. Napa found it then. Napa's price, twice the price of YT, same drive.

I just ordered a new 12v starter instead form YT. YT used USPS 2 day shipping. $147 shipping included, no sales tax. I'm happy with YT. Glad YT is in business.

NAPA stores can be either franchise stores or company stores. The franchised stores in small communities seem to be better because the employees tend to be car people. Company stores seem to only hire people who work cheap. Local store switched from company owned to franchised several years ago and the quality of counter help improved.

My neighbor recently got a engine gasket kit for a Ford 600 from YT--he was very satisfied with it and the price. Shipping he commented was plenty but both him and I know shipping is just expensive. Some sellers choose to hide shipping in their product's price, others tell it like it is. We prefer the latter--we make the speed/cost choice and pay based on distance.

Without remarking on YT, (who by the way I highly commend for even being here), or any specific parts company, my experience has been that the guy behind the counter makes all the difference in "availability." Finding a good parts man, dealer or otherwise, is like striking gold. gm

I worked in a auto parts store when I was young. I really liked it, but had to move on for better pay. Anyway, we had three parts stores in town, all separate company's. If a person came in looking for a part, and we were out of stock, I would call one of our competitors to see if they had the part. If they had it they would ask what price we quoted the customer so he didn't undersell us. We all did this and it worked out great for us and the customer.

Sprint 6! That is what we have here in Yelm, a small store staffed with local car guys. Even the new hires try hard, because that is the atmosphere they work in. Actually, the original intent of my post, was to show that YT beats other's prices. Ideally, a person should order from YT, before they need the part, or have the luxury of taking your time to get the job done, but if pushed for time, I will pay more to get it over with.

I've been very happy with the YT store, and have easily spent about 1,500 there on various items for several projects. Shipping time is usually a day or two (rarely longer), and with larger orders, the shipping cost per item goes down.

For something small and immediately necessary, like sediment bowl gaskets or filters, the local independent NAPA gets my business. Been seeing a couple of the same guys behind the counter for about 30 years, and they know their stuff.

Not always but for the most part their prices are fair. An example the other way was the starter drive for my Farmall M. A lot cheaper through NAPA. When I rebuilt an engine 2 years ago YT was cheaper on the rebuild kit.
