When I have people work for me on the farm, I always feed them a breakfast and lunch at the local café. Is any of it deductible?

If you have receipts I think it is.

Reminds me of when I was in high school(1989). I helped a local farmer lay out pipe. When we were done he went into the house and came out with a $5 bill and a glass of tea. he drank the tea and gave me the $5.
he offered me a drink from the garden hose.

The 5 bucks figured out to $1 an hr.I never went back.

He should have been in politics.

It is deductible if it is work related. We hire tobacco cutting crews and lunch is provided and is a tax deduction.

That is just plain wrong.
I would have given you the glass of tee, told you to call when you needed help and kept the five bucks. :)^D

We have a guy like that around here, not sure why he can't find good drivers with cdl's to haul his grain. Oh yeah, he wants to pay $10/hr

Just picked up my tax forms from the accountant. I have to pay the accountant, the Feds, and two States. Oh, and I have quarterly estimates to pay too. Not a good day.

Or, he could be like my boss, back in the early '60's, when I was getting minimum wage, $1.25 an hour.

A neighbor wanted some hay baled- Bob sent me over to do it with his AC D14 and New Holland baler. He outlined how to charge- so much per hour plus so much per bale, plus my wages. It was very fair. The job ended up being 4 hours, and total bill to neighbor was 50 buck, which he gladly paid.

I came back to settle up with boss- told him the numbers, handed him $45 and kept $5 for my 4 hours. He looked down at his $45, and at my $5, and said, "Well, you did all the work, and you get 5 bucks and I get 45? That's not right." And he handed me another 10.

Only one of a number of nice things he did while I worked for him. Like selling me my pick of registered Angus heifers for sale barn price, etc. Great guy- RIP, Bob Thomsen.

As a general rule, fully deductible if furnished for the convenience of the employer AND served on the premises. Taken to a local cafe, basically as a gratuitous event, I think you are looking at the 50% limitation on meals and entertainment.

Not exactly, if the meal is occasional and not required by a contract, even if, off site at a restaurant. The rule is a little gray but I would consider this deductible.
