Snapping Turtle Mower

Saw some old posts with questions on the Snapper self propelled rotary SNAPPER Turtle style walk behind lawn mower from the 50's. When I was 12 my neighbor bought one of the first and I was the mowee. the handle was an almost vertical with a t-handle on top and the roller wheels were on the rear just below the handle base. The motor was on the rear portion of the long rounded front dark green deck. There were no wheels on the front part just skids. There was a snapping turtles head on the front which was used to tie a rope to and thence to a stout post driven to ground and tall enough to wind up enough rope required for the radius of the circle you wanted to cut. The mower did the rest... Anything else needed? hope this helps....Fond memories

We had one when I was growing up. I think ours had a Wisconsin motor, and I do remember that snapping turtles head on the front of the mower..Of course, being the oldest son, I spent many an hour behind it.

They were made early 1960s. I've have half-a-dozen
of them. Came with a choice of a Briggs, Clinton,
Wisconsin, or Kohler engine. I've posted the
original manuals here several times.
