I have posted on the noise in the Corolla for a few days now.

Upper motor mount changed
Valve clearances checked, was fine
Timing checked, was fine

It was the motor mount, no noise now.

BTW keep a check on the front rubber brake hoses at the caliper all the early 90's I have owned the hose's would leak bad at some time...

Every one I have brought had a hole in the front of the block it threw a rod... Poor maintenance I spec,,, other than the hole in the block and one spun bearing the rest of the engine look as good as new... Those engines are cheap to rebuild :wink:
 
I did not think it should be this either, but the Internet is full of others with this issue.
