looking for help, I am restoring my dads oliver 77 tractor to my surprise it is the 34th oliver 77 made by serial no. Is this very rare with this low of a serial no or does someone have a lower serial number?
 
It'd be interesting to see,but I don't think it's anymore rare than any other serial number.
I assume the PTO lever is on the left and it has the rigid ride seat?
If it's original paint,does it have the yellow stripe all the way back to the gas cap in the center of the hood? Dad had an early 66,but I don't remember it ever having the yellow hood stripe.
 
Yes it does have left hand PTO lever, Paint is very bad and has some up dates done to it like the seat, do u think some one has a 001 serial or do u think so many of those tractors got scraped ?
 
I guess each serial number on any series is very rare as they only built one with that serial number.
I don't see the big deal of serial numbers being low,the last one etc unless there was something say to make the first 10 different from all the rest of the production run.

I guess it's just me, but I've never seen the fascination with a low number or a "last" number.
I do remember seeing on the news awhile back that the last Ford Ranger produced off of the assembly line went to the Orkin pest control company and was used just like every other truck they bought.
 
I get that that there is only one tractor per serial no.,have you ever seen tractors sell with serial no.001 ? some are priceless at auctions
 
Guys something you need to remember before you think yours was number 34 or 179 or whatever number is that Oliver serial numbers were spread out among all models. Number 33 might have been an 88 or 66, next tractor down the line gets the next number no mater what model. I think that started with the fleetline models.
