I think I will stay in today

Got about 20" of snow last night. Temp is 10 F with 45-50 MPH wind here now.
I have plenty of food and a good supply of wood to keep warm. If the wind dies down I may go out and try to find the snow blower.
Who said "Spring was just around the corner"???

we have -4 here right now at 10 am. got down to -8 last night. only supposed to get to -1 for a high today and down to -13 tonight. I think I am ready to go groundhog hunting for a certain varmint!

I wish I could stay in. Chores are done, but the balls are freezing up in the waterer as soon as a cow walks away. When another one comes up,I have to go back out and kick them loose again. They went all day yesterday without water. I kicked the balls loose at least ten times, but they never came out of the barn to eat or drink.

The wind has kicked up already, sky is not so dark and gray, the usual and fitting end for all these kinds of snow storms. Wood stove is stoked since before dawn, garage and my corner near the stove is 80 deg F, floor above its 1 deg warmer than the thermostat, so its keeping the furnace off. Headed out to clear with the walk behind, just another foot of snow, of the dry powdery type, then load up the wheelbarrow for some extra wood, rest of the day will be indoors, no argument there. 10F is not all that bad, you get acclimated by this time of the winter, but nothing gets you used to those bitter cold winds.

It is on the run, sun comes out the snow melts now, and there was less showing yesterday, well until this. Just a minor set back, calander don't lie think green and remember the scent of freshly turned top soil LOL !

The deer are sick of it too, yesterday a 200lb doe or buck given antler shed has taken place or should have, stood under my pine tree, I walked right past it, went to the neighbors to walk the dog, came out with the dog, deer just stood there and watched me the whole time, just did not want to wade out into that snow again. Does had a lot of fat on this year and this is why.

It is -10 here at 10 AM this morning in spite of the sun being out and not a cloud in the sky. FYI, that is an extraordinary thing here, especially in February. Maybe at night and maybe in December, but not now. I have to clear the drive and walks before I open for business tomorrow AM. Need to head out to the farm and move some stuff as the barn steel is being delivered tomorrow. Then it looks like I might have to plow the road also. Don't see the neighbors lining up for the privilege.

I have never seen a wind and cold combination that will kick on the heat pump with the wood stove on full tilt. It did all night last night and still is. I'm getting some cabin fever already today, so I am going to head out shortly to check waterers and haul up wood. We don't have any snow yet but it is supposed to start at 7 pm.

just was out, shoveled some snow and the paths for the dog,,,did some with the snowblower,I Think the drive belt is going on it,have to fix it,,it is cold and windy here in nj,the wife is working until 1

After I popped a couple factory belts on our snowblower, I called a belt and bearing house and ordered two of the same size belt, in Industrial Belt. Never had to use the second belt; included it with the snowblower when we sold it before we moved to AZ.

It was 2 degrees here in southern Virginia this morning with 40 to 50 mph wind. Supposed to get even colder later this week.

Northern Ky. 30 miles east of Cincinnati. 4 degrees this morning and high wind. Yesterday had 30 mph. winds and snow squalls. When the wind blows out of the north we get all the weather and snow off Lake Michigan. Indiana is flat with no hills to stop the weather until it reaches the hills of Ky. Ellis

rrlund That is the reason I got red of any water that has the darn balls in them. They would freeze and you have cattle not drinking.

I will gladly pay for some electric to not worry with the darn balls freezing shut the waterer.

I have all Richie poly waterers now. Out of over 20 waterers I had one freeze up this morning with -2 over night and some good winds. That one just had the light bulb go bad in the base. Put in a 60 watt bulb and had water in ten minutes doing nothing else.

The water level's set too high in this one. It's coming all the way up to the lid,so there's just a little bit of water between the lid and the ball. If it just had a screw or something to adjust it,I would right now,but you have to loosen a bolt and move the float on the arm. Everything is plastic and I'm not going to risk breaking something when it's this cold. I'll put up with the inconvenience until we get a warmer day.

I have been using NAPA's "Fractional Horse Power belts" on all my heavily used Mower decks and found them far superior to anything anywhere else..lasting 5 times longer (or much more)..and they are much cheaper than any factory replacement..

Not sure about the temp, but definitely cold. Wind and blowing snow all last night. Wife has a two hour delay before work this morning, weather-related. I have at least two driveways on my plow route that will be drifted this morning, going to wait as long as possible to do them, so I don't have to go back twice.

I had a half frozen hay customer show up last night at seven o'clock. He vehicle was dead on the road over by the farm. She had walked half a mile to my house, instead of just up the driveway to my sister's. I loaded a few bales in my pickup and took her home. AAA will deal with her car this morning.

I AM OFFICIALLY SICK OF WINTER!!!!
