OT---Amazon (rant)

Have and do order a lot of items from Amazon. I have made a decision to not order any item from Amazon that are not sold and shipped by Amazon.
There are several items that are sold and shipped by different vendors and I have received wrong items that are shipped late!
Last item I bought, along with several items that Amazon had in stock, was not even shipped until after I received all the other items.
I contacted Amazon and they asked for the estimated date of receiving, and I gave them the date (already passed) !
They then sent me a notice that the item has just shipped--TWO DAYS EARLY ??????
TEN days for shipping that I should have received in TWO days.
Description stated clearly that it consisted of two items and I only received one.
I sent it back and had to pay shipping to and from me.
Not a big deal but wasted 10 days and $6.00 !
That won't happen again.

I made the same discovery a year or so ago, that some things are shipped from other vendors. I had something that took forever and a day to get here. I wasn't happy.

Amazon cannot possibly stock all the things they offer on their site. While I am sure they try to police their business partners, they don't really have control over them other than to drop them from the Amazon site. I can't say that it is entirely a reasonable position to expect things to go 100% perfectly when a giant like Amazon is acting as agent for thousands of smaller companies selling on the web. Must be a logistical nightmare to track of and deal with all these companies and their individual company policies. Sellers on Amazon range from individual authors promoting their books on up. I have run into the same situation, but it always gets resolved eventually.

I haven't bought mucha from the Amazon, but when I do buy there are great results to my purchases.
This week I found oot that Dee Zee quit building running boards for the pickup truck I have, I called the company and they told me that Amazon had one set left. That wuz Tuesday and I received my goods yesterday. Am a happy camper!"

Mr llund" you used a term I haven't heard in a coons age.
Forever and a day!
Do you remember the country music singer that wrote a song called "Forever and a day?"

Yeah, it might be that Amazon didn't notify the vendor, or the vendor didn't see any urgency in filling the order.
Either way, I will have more control next order.
I have received items from Amazon that were shipped unbelievably fast and some were returned and I got full refund.
Not complaining about Amazon--just their outside vendors.

Not ringing a bell. I remember Once a day,all day long and More and more everyday, but not Forever and a day.

I ordered a capacitor for the heat pump to have as a spare from Amazon, that was to be shipped from an independent vendor in Indiana.

In a couple hours I received notice that the vendor had shipped the item and it arrived 2 days later.

I am sure there are a lot of reputable vendors on Amazon. Sad that I have found more then a few that are not.
Guess it depends a lot on what is ordered.

I've bought a lot of stuff from Amazon, and can't recall ever having a problem.

As others have said, Amazon can't possibly stock all the merchandise they offer, so you have to assume a lot of it will be drop shipped from another source.

I think Amazon does a heck of a job, actually.

The writer and singer of the song Forever and a day wuz Jimmie Osborn from Louisville, Kantuck
He died in 1957 and at the time was the highest paid country singer around.

I follow the same rule, but occasionally, the item I need is not sold by Amazon, but is still SHIPPED by Amazon. I will make an exception in that case.

My understanding is that the Amazon warehouse is HUGE. It is quite possible everything is in stock, right under one roof.

I bought a TV booster from amazon, got it in only two days.Problem was it didn't work. They had ups pick it up at my house and they paid the return shipping. That's pretty good service.

I have the same rules, but for different reasons.
I too don't trust a lot of the different vendors
on amazon, but my biggest reasons is duty. I can
only shop on Amazon.ca because of my fear of
getting a huge duties bill. For the same reason, I
only(with 1 or 2 exceptions) buy products which
are sold and shipped by Amazon.ca. Sometimes you
have a reputable Canadian business like JCCayer,
which has a brick and mortar store, so I can be
fairly sure it will ship from Canada. I've had
nothing but good luck with Amazon.ca

I am always a little leery on amazon. One of the things I bought on there was reprint tractor engine manuals. they were specifically advertised for certain models of engine. turns out they were the same book for a totally different engine photocopied out with a cover for the engines I wanted put on. 100% Total BS, had to ship back on my own dime and was out shipping both ways. Needless to say, my review for both books and seller was scathing, but the seller didn't care one bit. wouldn't even apologize for flat out lying. I've bought some camera stuff with good luck, but had to be sure to stick to the well known, reputable sellers.

That's basically the same thing that happened to me. A few month earlier, last year, I bought a HVLP spray gun that was sold and shipped by Amazon. It was a $12.00 gun that I paid $38.?? for. Immediately contacted Amazon and they had UPS pick it up at my home and I was surprised that they issued a full refund even before they had received it.
