Speaking of oil prices

Well I saw today home heating oil is $2.65 delivered, someone asked the other day about storing oil. I'm thinking of filling my farm diesel tank again, last time I bought fuel 2 years ago it was $3.25 a gallon, and I'm just about out. 275 gallons last me almost 2 years in the tractors. I guess I may as well buy it while its down!

I just filled mine. About the same price. I go through about 500 gal. a year. My brother works for a BTO with a gravel pit. He said they went through 97000 gal last year not including heating oil. We joke if they could just get the cows to milk on diesel they'd do better.

We filled every thing up a couple weeks ago, all the tractors, combine and sprayer, 20,000 off road tank, 2,000 on road tank,,major savings over last year..

I had my tank topped off Jan 30 at $2.105 with all the taxes here in central IL. A friend earlier made me think about it when he ordered a semi load for $2.48. I don't think oil will rise back to last year prices but will go up some more by summer. Don't worry, the Koch brothers will still be making money.

Don't forget I'm in New Pork? $$$$, i mean New York, gee I don't know we're that came from??? Lol

For heating oil here were charged half, 4% instead of 8% sales tax, but for farm use there's no tax.

If I had empty tanks I would fill them. I'm guessing oil has probably reached it's bottom and is likely to climb. I won't elaborate.

We have been wanting to pre buy for spring crop but our supplier says hold on it is going to go down more so I am just waiting.

i agree, i would buy now and if it goes down he can refund you the difference.

Strange how the crude oil price went up just a few days after our President went to the Kings funeral in Saudi Arabia.
Our on road diesel went from $1.96 to $2.45 within a week and still climbing.

(quoted from post at 21:02:43 02/12/15) THERE IS NO TAX ON HOME HEATING OIL IN NYYYYYYYYYYYY

Depends on the county. I was shocked to find our county charged sales tax on heating oil. Asked our county rep about it and he basically said, "Well, we have to get money from somewhere!" Myself, I think thats darn near a sin to tax something that keeps people warm.

We are talking about 10 thousand gallon so even fifty cents would be a chunk of change. I was ready but his thinking is this recent spike is caused from just what we are talking about. Folks with storage loading up. He says in the next three weeks thing will fill up and heating oil demand will decrease. Thinking it will come back down. Just a crap shoot but I am going to ride a little longer. Still quit a bit less than we paid last year

Yep. Oil futures are over $60 a barrel and rising - up from $45 a month ago. Over 30% increase in a month.
