Went to look at a 930 case diesel today. Over all good shape started great ran and great. Dose have a few small leaks but nothing major. Could use a little freshing up on the paint job. What's the opinion of the 930s and is $3000 a good price?

I think the 930 Case is a great tractor, and is still a very useful tractor today some 47 years since the last one was built. I have one and love to use it. Bruce

The only thing that is weak may be the brakes and they can be easily fixed. In the condition you describe I would snatch it up in a hurry. They are good rugged tractors and are fairly easy to work on

I bought my second 930 about 5 years ago, good looking CK with Egging cab, front tires shot. Offered the guy $1500, he said "oh God I can't take that". I figured I insulted him, he says "give me a thousand and it's yours. I took it and ran.

What kind of 930 is it? The western style special with the chain drive rear end and 6 speed tranny or the newer design with the gear drive rear and 8 speed? Kind of a difference as the newer design is much more user friendly.

I"d take it. I still miss my 69 model 932. And the later Western style were not chain drive. They were gear drive , 8 speed and dry clutch. Some early six speeds had the hand clutch. That wet clutch on the six speeds was a real tight spring and would wear out your knee joint if you had to do much clutching. But for field work, once you are rolling just leave it in third gear and go. Plenty of power so you never need to clutch and shift.

When my brother retired, he sold his 2490 and 800 Versatile and kept the 930 for a loader tractor and the 1030 to handle the snowblower.
