I look through the photo ads on this site and see the G's priced at a lot more than A's and B's why is this was there less made?

You might get more specific answers on the JD forum here on YT.
There were definitely more A's made than G's, so that might lend
to the price, and the B's were a smaller tractor HP and size wise.
The astronomical price pullers pay for a G over an A still amazes
me. They weren't that much different in HP originally and around
here the guys pulling A's almost always whoop the G's.

292,000 A's. 306,000 B's, 60,000 G's, 60,000 H's.
I may be a little off on the numbers. I really like my 42 H.

a G with gas manifold and pistons will put out 20 horse more than a gas A. or compare all fuel A to G cause that is the only way john deere sold a G .low compression all fuel >Paul

Besides what others have what already said about production numbers, there is also the "cool" factor. Park a G next to a Farmall M and you will see JD wasted no iron in the rear end.

Gave our '48 G away. Worst tractor we ever had on the place - and it was the last JD on the place.

Hard to find an "original" G anymore as most have been modified into pulling tractors. Would like one myself, but resorted to buying an Farmall M instead because of the price.

Well, as you know buddy I bought the two, a 1945 GM and a 1948 G. A LOT of people have tried to buy that GM from us!!

The G is for sale now.... Pops wants to sell it to pay for his GM (both of them are his first tractors...) Even though it is a little rough, it still seems to hold a good bit of value! It is lightly stuck, and will need tires, and grill shells, and a few other little things, but other than that it is pretty good....

Now I just have to find someone that wants to buy it! :)

There were fewer GMs built then unstyled Gs. I actually passed on a GM once because it had "G" decal on it and I didn't bother looking at the tractor close enough. Later on I took a closer look at it and noticed it was a GM so I bought it.

Ya I think somewhere around 6000 or so huh? I couldn't figure out what this one was when we found it, because it sad "A" on the grills! But it had a cast frame and pan seat, looked HUGE compared to an A, and the stacks were next to each other!

Finally took the time to clean off the serial plate and it says Model GM John Deere.... I think that it will turn out to be a very, very nice machine....
