Cat 0 3 point

A lot of the compact utility tractors had both if you are talking the conventional shaft sticking out the back end (not all are 540 or 1000 RPM). Then you can add in the ones already mentioned with different types (both belt and shaft drive) of PTO's and add in Sears, Wheel Horse D models, Jacobson (including Ford, Minnie Moe and Oliver) and several others.

Don't forget Power King! My 2418 has the hitch but doesn't have the optional rear PTO attachment.

The Cat 0 hitch and the 2000 rpm PTO used to be common options for large-frame garden tractors. However, it seems like these days the "limited Cat 1" hitch and regular 540 has become more popular for this class of machine.

The Sears like the Suburban has aren't Cat 0 they are narrower at the pins and the top link set up is different. The Craftsman FF 18,20,24 were the only
Sears/Craftsmans tractors with a true Cat 0 Hitch

The only tractor being built presently with a Cat 0
hitch I know of is the Tuff-Built tractor in Alabama, its an AC
G clone with a Cat 0 hitch on the rear and one in the center of the tractor.

That's interesting - I wasn't aware that the Cat 0 hitch has been "put out to pasture" to that extent. These days I suppose if someone needs a small tractor with a hitch it makes more sense just to go to a compact utility. Back when the large-frame garden tractors were popular the compact utility market hadn't really developed yet so there were fewer alternatives for small scale truck farming and similar jobs.

I sure like the little Cat 0 on my Power King and enjoy building attachments for it.

For attachments you can look at the 'modified'
Cat 1 implements for small compacts. They are about the same as Cat 0 except they have the bigger pins. Also you can buy or make a Cat 0 3pt to sleeve hitch adapter and then you can use any sleeve hitch equipment which is a lot easier to find than Cat 0
equipment.

So in other words Sears had a Cat 0 3 point on some tractors?

Those who posted below are pretty much right. I had a Ford- New Holland, I believe a model 1300 that used cat 0 for the 3 point hitch. this little tractor had a diesel engine and power steering and a standard 540 pto.

CASE also had a cat O 3pt hitch, but they had their own hydraulic PTO to run tillers/ wood chippers/ vac units and even a log splitter

Bolens had 4 rear mounted PTO kits available for the large frame tractors.

However, the only one that was compatible with the CAT 0 3-PT hitch was a 2000 RPM one.

The other three, which were 540 and 1000 RPM ( they came with gears and output shafts for both) used the same mounting points as the CAT 0 3-pt hitch, so you could only use one or the other.

I have a John Deere 425 garden tractor with a class 0 3-point hitch. I only use it for the weight box when I use the fully hydraulic front blade (54 inch). I know they had a 540 pto option available but I didn't order it. If I wanted a tiller now I would get a class 1 for my John Deere 990. Richard
