I hope someone can help I.D. a john deere A. Serial number is 254877. It has a two speed trans (I thought must make it a D)with hi and low range? The serial # plate is clear it is an A but I can't find any serial numbers starting at less than a 4.

The very first serial number for a John Deere A is 410000, what is the number on the serial plate it's self? Sounds to me like it is either an Unstyled A, or a very early, "Early" styled A...

Is there a possibility of a picture? Bryce

Have a picture of the serial # plate. It belongs to a guy I work with, couldn't get pictures of tractor for a couple days. No starter, originally had steel wheels.

Post this on the John Deere forum; might get better answers there.
Send the serial number to Two Cylinder Club; they will tell you exactly what the tractor is , when built, etc. There is a charge for the info.
