Bought a new Malibu yesterday....haven't had a Chevy since I bought a new Beretta in '94. I wasn't planning on buying new, but my GM credit card bumped up my points from 600 to 3000 if we bought before March 1, so I talked the wife into going for a test drive and she liked the first one we drove. We got over $4000 in rebates and past customer points, $1000 bonus for trading in the Camry and saved another $1100 in sales tax with a trade. I don't usually trade in, but I was within $500 of what I felt I would be able to gain by selling on my own, so I avoided the hassle. I think this is one scenario where buying new was a better deal than buying used. The Camry was 7000 miles from being out of drivetrain warranty and I have read the 2012's have had issues...and we had one already. Malibu also has a lot better road feel and rated at 4mpg better with the same size engine. Only thing I really didn't care for was the new start/stop eco system, but will see how it goes.
To keep it on topic, I sold the Allis 190 when I got home....so it was a "cash positive" day :D

I have owned Chevrolet and GMC pickups for the past 50 years and have had good service out of them.
I'm in the process of buying a new pu but GM and Dodge won't sell me a truck I want. So I'm going to Ford. It is too bad the way GM has gone in not offering a variety of choices. I don't want what is the popular styles now days, I'm the one paying for it and I want what pleases me.

If your last car was a Beretta, I can understand why you wouldn't want to look at GM anymore. It was not one of GM's finest moments...

GM is making some sweet deals. I just bought a new 2015 Silverado for ~$10,000 off list with my GM card topped off.

YES!!!

Come to the dark side......

We are Chevy people... Mostly because my dad has been the lead technician at a Chevrolet dealer for 30 years! We have a couple of older trucks, corsica, Tahoe, Camaro, and the ElCamino "Farm Truck"

I have a 1995 K1500, and that 56 C6400....

Hope you are happy with it! Bryce

Actually we loved the Beretta. It had the 5 speed and 2.2....got 45 mpg the first 90,000 miles, then dropped to 42 after the original tires wore out and I put some Pirelli tires on it...bad choice. I ran Amsoil in it from the start, changed oil 4 times in 132,000 miles. Never used oil, only thing I stuck into it was a battery, front struts and a set of tires. Sold it when my wife got a company car. They were Pontiacs, so when we bought again, went that way. GrandAm and then the G6 when they were closing them out. She totaled the G6 in 2013, so I found a good deal on the Camry...but it just didn't handle like the Pontiacs and was disappointed in the gas mileage and then read about tranny issues. Feels good to drive a car with real doors again LOL!

GM cars and Dodge trucks here....

You must have a Come-A-Part in that big Dodge of yours huh? They were much better than the 6.5's that Chevy had at the time....

These new Duramax's are a force to recon with!! Would really like to have one of those to pull tractors with... :)

Last GM truck was a 96 with the 6.5. Nice interior and looked sharp, but that was about it. It would lay down and die when you hooked up a trailer or slid the camper in. Terrible brakes, twisted off lugs at every tire rotation, had to turn the heater on full blast when pulling in the summer and come to a hill...bought an 01 Cummins HO and what a difference! Upgraded to a 4x4 Duallie in 04 and has been a great truck. Almost bought a maxipad, but they wanted $10k more for it. Later found out I made the right decision after hearing about their injector issues. Even happier I didn't fall for the Ford 6.0

The Camry is American built with more American parts content, and a better car to boot.
Best selling American car for 16 ? years.

Unfortunatey it was a disappointment going from a Pontiac G6....and when the tranny started roaring like a semi during a road trip over Xmas, a bit unnerving...beware of 2012 Camry transmissions!

You will have to talk a long time before I look at another GM product. Bought a 92 Chevy with a 6.5 engine. First diesel I ever owned. Was so proud of it until hooked a trailer to it. Could not keep it from getting hot when pulling a load and it had no power. Can't believe GM would even sell something like that.

My mother bought herself a new 2013 Malibu for her 80th birthday. It seems to be a good car with all the bells but it is the worst for blind spots. Other than that it's been trouble free for her but she only has 6xxx miles in 2 years. Personally I can't get the service out of GM trucks that I get out of Ford or even Dodge. I hope you have many trouble free years with yours.

All I've got to say in response is: Everybody's got a skeleton in their closet. For example: Ford 6.0L Powerstroke

I used to have GM products, then I bought a Honda. It has 280,000 miles on it gets up to 36 MPG and burns no oil.

I have the big 3 in all shapes and forms. That is why I drive a Sienna and if Toyota made a diesel, I would be driving that instead of the tinny fuel guzzling 6.7. I wasted money at Peoria chipping it. I would give the chip to somebody if they would put mine back stock. My Pete get almost half as much mileage pulling 80K.

eep sippin' that kool-aid.if you like them so well you should move over there and see how well you like it.

I bought a 2015 Malibu last Tuesday. Paid
$1,700.00 less for it than I paid for my 2004
Malibu. Both cars were no trade-ins and cash
sales, so apples to apples.
