420 or 430?

There is a 420(?) down the road that has the sloped steering wheel of the 430.The hood is 20 series.So what would it be?I thought the 20 series had a straight wheel,not the slant. I havent yet stopped to look.

not a JD man but we had a 420 with straight wheel but I have seen them with the tilted wheel, think its a year change

The early 420's were straight. Can't remember the changeover point.

Without looking up the serial number data, the 420 came in three variations:

All green, straight steering - '56 model

Green with yellow hood accents, straight steering wheel - '57 model

Green with yellow hood accents, tilted steering wheel - '58 model

The last phase built just before the 330 and 430 models were introduced were known as slant steers. Not many built and are the most coveted of then three phases.
