Has Anyone Seen This On a Farmall H ?

A friend of mine showed me his latest purchase, a Farmall H. I have never seen a kill switch like this on an IH magneto. It is cable operated. Was this common or factory? Looks like it would ground out the stud on the condenser is my guess. It may be home made the longer I look at it.

No I don't want to jump in too much but if your tractor was a "stripper" and had NO electrical system AKA wire harness, lights etc. This would nake sense. Was it a crank start tractor? Also power units like irrigation pumps and such. Neet old item. If it works it is a fun little item.

There is one on our 1940 M . It was the only way to shut off the tractor unless you put it in 5th,put your foot on the brakes and stalled it out.

This was the cable operated ignition shorting system used on all early Farmall H and M. Later replaced by electrical shorting switch. On the Farmall A and B this cable operated system replaced the press-down tab on the very early tractors and was replaced by the electrical shorting switch at the same time it became the norm on the bigger Farmalls.

had quite a few of those on Farmalls,
Still have it on a couple C/SC's.

pretty handy.
one thing to remember.....
they are spring loaded, so after shutting them down and letting
off the knob/handle...
the ignition is 'live' sitting there.
Don't forget if you have to turn a fan blade or crank handle for some reason.
of course, it will start instantly if you forget :D
