OT--eBay refund.

I received a damaged item from eBay. Talked with seller and after UPS covered the damage, he agreed to give me a PayPal refund.
Seller stated that he issued a refund over the weekend and that the holiday might slow it up.
Good luck with getting an answer from eBay or PayPal!!
From what little I have found out, it can take up to THIRTY DAYS for a PP Refund!
EBay has all the negotiations between me and seller and seller offered 14 day money back.
Today is 14 days so I am curious as to if I need to file resolution request with eBay?

The way I understand it 14 day money back means
you have that many days to complain to the seller
asking for your money back. Moot point here as the
seller has already agreed to a refund. I'd think
it would show up right away. If it does not I
would contact the seller again. Always contact the
seller first. Only start proceedings through ebay
if all else fails.

That's what I am thinking. Don't want to offend the seller when it seems he is doing the right thing.
The reason it has been 14 days is because he was waiting on USPS to make a settlement , for shipping damage.

you must file a "problem" with ebay by 14 days or your out of luck.. you can file the case, and then see if the seller follows through and then close the case.. If you do not file by the 14th day, you have no recourse. I always file by the 14th day if there is a problem. I explain to the seller that I have to, and he will understand. I have been screwed several times by promises, so I file first and close later. It just sound business.. Usually it a case for NOT receiving the item, or NOT as described. The not as described usually means it was total fraud and advertised as working and received a broken or different item. I have purchase over 1200 items off ebay and had to file about 6 cases. Two times I did not file in time and got screwed.. but again, my fault for not being on time. One of the cases I lost, I later found out the seller went into the hospital and then died. If you file in time, ebay will back you everytime, if you have just cause.

I have issued refunds in the past, and they are immediate. You should see the refund. Now, in order for him to get credited for the commission you would need to open a case requesting the refund. That is the normal procedure to basically reverse the transaction.

What about messaging him tonight, through ebay messages and tell him your concern about exceeding the return-deadline due to the fact that he is waiting for a refund from UPS. That way when he replies to you, you'll have a record of what he says... just in case he does not process the refund and you need to file a claim through ebay.

If you contact the seller thru Ebay when you have a problem they follow it and your safe. I just had a problem and received my refund today, the day after the seller received the item back. Ebay messaged me twice in the time it took. One seller that I had a problem with a year or so back was removed as a seller and Ebay refunded me my payment.

I have had to call ebay before. There is a number under one of the help pages. Email doesnt work well at times.

Is the paypal refund to your paypal account, or is it in the form of an e-check. Paypal account should be almost instant, e-check might take up to 20 days.

I had an issue, I contacted the vendor through ebay and he stated he would offer me a refund ( even though it was my own fault for ordering the wrong part) I had paid by paypal, he told me my refund would be posted as soon as they had received the part back, I shipped it back USPS signature required so I could track it, the day it showed delivered I sent him another message & he confirmed my refund would be posted at the end of the day. Next morning it was in my paypal account.
I turned right around & ordered the correct part from him & received it the following day, he had already shipped it.
Just lucky I guess.

My refund is through PayPal account.
I might add that the seller has agreed to give me a full fund, with shipping, and I keep the item, because UPS has him paid for the damage.

Coupla years ago, we bought a glass punch bowl set on ebay. The bowl did not survive shipping.

The seller filed a claim with UPS. UPS picked up the pieces of the broken bowl. By then I had found an identical bowl set on ebay. As the set was to be a gift to a church, we elected to keep the cups and ladle from the first set as they could be added to the second set. I bought the second bowl set.

The seller and I agreed on the value of just the bowl and the seller sent me a check for that amount. The seller then pursued her claim with UPS.

Everyone was happy and the church we donated the set to got 30 cups instead of 14.

PayPal wasn't involved. If everyone keeps their heads, a deal can usually be made.

Have you checked your paypal account to see if any funds were deposited there? It would be up to you to transfer funds back to your bank account.

Dick L's response is accurate. I've sent refunds and received refunds, both are easier working through PayPal's resolution center. When a problem occurs, start a resolution request with PayPal right away. You can easily cancel a request when you are satisfied. PayPal has even issued me a refund without the seller's consent, but they need access to the messages that have been sent. You need to keep your communications through e-bay.
