how to plow,

I was at a plow day a couple of years ago. One of the participants
was plowing the wrong direction. He had his left wheel in the furrow. Most of us had a good laugh.

Yes,he kind of took the adjustment out of it.
Best of all, read the comments below the video.

I guess being around it all your life you just take it for granted that everybody's got a general idea how to plow.
I just hope somebody doesn't watch that and think that's the way its done. But they probably will.

Hahahaha! That was so funny, "this is the way we do it" " oops he almost stalled it" lol, few pics I took plowing a deer plot for a buddy.

My Team of Belgians know more about plowing than that guy, they know to walk the furrow, I don't think I could make them mess up like that , discing the sod would have done much better then a landscape rake Everybody learns how to plow from someone:father, uncle, granpa, etc but don't make a video on how to plow when you have no clue

When I bought my farm there was an acre of hillside which was brushy grass. Looked ok just a bit steep. I was cleaning up the place so I took the brush cutter and went to knock it down.

Lucky I wasn't driving fast, it was the bumpiest roughest ground I had been on...plus there was really only one 20' level section at the top to turn. No way could I drive my tractor across the slope...would have tipped in places, it was puckering the first time as it was.

My old neighbour at the top of the hill was leaning on the fence watching me. I stopped when done and he had a big grin on his face. He was happy to see me knocking the fields down. But he told me the previous owner had hired some guy to come and plow the hillside.

The owner made the guy plow in circles around the field (plow must have held the guy from tipping). He said the guy was so upset when done he drove to the yard, loaded up and left. The guy was supposed to disc and pack the field after...but no one did anything.

Lucky my gear is big enough to take care of the mess...ended up just rotovating it a few times in the fall when it softened up. One pass in the spring before planting Christmas trees, and it was done. Now all I take on the hillside is a mower between the rows and drive up and down.

That previous owner left all kinds of treats for me...

I plow over 700 acres a year. I would be totally embarrassed to put my name to that plow job. I would probably be unemployed if I did something like that too.

He thinks its a middle buster! lol Actually a lof of guys on small farms with square fields used to plow in a square. Less time heading across headlands.Supposedly more efficient since you were plowing most of the time.I've heard of guys who planed in a circle too for the same reason.

Actually the guy linked that video on here when he first put it up on Utube. It must have been two and a half years ago. Being the good hearted bunch that we are no one criticized his work or burst his bubble, that I recall.

My wife had no idea about farming when we were married. Initially it was very difficult for me to realize, that things that were second nature to me, she didn't have the slightest idea how to do. I look back on those years and marvel that she didn't just shoot in my sleep. Lol!!!!

I think at least half of the "How To" videos on Youtube are made by someone doing it for the first time. You have to watch a while, but eventually they admit they have never done it before.

When I saw this video for the first time, I was amazed that the guy believed he was doing a good job, and that a lot of his followers seemed to agree, I didn't see any critical comments from anyone on this site. You guys and gals are very diplomatic in giving your opinions. This shows that U-Tube viewers are a lot different than participants here on Yesterdays tractors. This is a great forum.
