About a month ago my wife's Ford Escort wagon dropped a valve seat and we decided not to fix.
Today I got a Ford Focus wagon for her. She was not able to go with me, but I decided it would do the job for her. It has much better headroom and almost adequate legroom for me. I brought it home and she approved the purchase. It is in real good shape for it's age and everything works. I even got it a couple hundred dollars less than he was asking for. The rest the day wasn't so fulfilling.

Got a Focus wagon for your wife? Sounds like a good trade.

Seriously we bought a new Focus wagon in 2005, and drove it until about 3 years ago when our daughter wrecked her 4 door, then we sold it to her and bought an Escape. It is still running, and has over 100k on it. One thing to watch, it needs the transmission fluid changed at least every 50,000 miles. Anything over that, and it will start not shifting right. The fluid at that point really looks dirty.

P.S., I am still driving a 99 Escort as my short hop beater. Runs much cheaper than my 4wd truck for short daily trips to see Mom in the nursing home.

By boy is 6'4" and big. He fits will in a Toyota Camry, lots of leg room and head rood. His car's seat is so low to the ground, it kills my back getting in and out of the car.

So for some old people we need head and leg room, we also need a higher seat like a truck or a van.

I have the same tall body and short legs. Always drove GM and previous was a Buick LeSabre. We decided to go with one vehicle fits all and no SUV. The only passenger vehicles I could drive comfortably was Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

Wife and I are both on short side, Have a LeSaber and hard for either of us to get in or out. Have had 85, 88, 94, 98 and a 06 Caravan and the Caravans are the most comfortable vehical have had since I started driving back in the late 50's. Next will be anouther Caravan. Easy to get in and out of and do not have to set with legs extended straight in uncomfortable position. Also high enough to actually see road conditions. Never a car again. Buick was a mistake when we bought it but was avaible when needed a vehical.

What cars do you drive comfortably? I have a long back so getting in and out is often an issue. We have a Ford Five Hundred and a Silverado. Paul

It isn't black with a whole new front end on it, is it? I totalled ours last week wrapping it around a rather large doe. I was alarmed to find the air bags didn't go off - the light came on and it was hard enough to break my seatbelt let alone rip off everything in front of the A pillar. Also a little alarmed that only one tire locked up. I wasn't sad to see it go - I hated that thing with a passion, but wife brought it with her 9 years ago.
