Truckers check this out

Glade I am retired I don't have to put up with all these laws. When I started in 1972 it was simple but by the time I retired (2010)there were so many rules and regulations put on drivers that you couldn't keep up with them.

I've got one more year till I renew my drivers license. When I do, I will drop the CDL. I want nothing to do with trucking anymore.

I had to drop mine too. Said I was not driving any longer and had no need for it. I found this out the last time I renewed my state issued driving license.

The first two characters commenting pretty much tells you how some of those ridiculous laws get passed in the first place. Same as with farming or guns. Idiots passing laws who haven't the slightest knowledge of the subject.

It has gotten so stupid the local doctor has quit giving CDL physicals. He said the govt had passed so many regs. on them, if a driver has an accident it can come back on the doctor that issued the medical card.

Renewed my license on Jan 9,'15 and since I never "pre-applied for one of their types of CDL,s (because I knew I was going to drop it anyway) they just downgraded it to "Chauffeur,s". I'm 64.retired and sick of the crap that goes with it for no more than I ever used it for. Probably couldn't pass physical anyway and with the leftovers from cervicle spinal stenosis surgery. Don't need it and never will.

I have kept my CDL never know might I drive for somebody part time. Keeping the CDL is not hard I dropped the HAZ-MAT and renewing with out HAZ_MAT you don't have to take any test.

I'm on disability from spinal stenosis among other things and have hazmat but am keeping it for the same reasons if i have to do some part time driving. Loved trucks but the BS is enough that my 30 acres would go from the poorest in the county to the best!Plus some of the companies love making their own rules so much. After driving for how long got to take your key inside instead of leaving itin the locked keybox on the truck. Just another time waster . Plus having to put your info into the little truck computer if it is in the mood to take it that day.Lots of times had to leave then pull over and put it in away from our security fence and the airport.SMH If I knew i could get along without it the rest of my life it would be GONE !!

I think they dropped the part of the reset that required you to be off duty from midnight or so til 6 am or so, twice. By the sounds of it. If you drive at night they essentially pushed your reset out to over 50 hours if you got home at the wrong time.
They have all kinds of experts telling them that you need to sleep 8 hours straight every night, and only at night, ignoring that changing your sleep pattern is about the worse thing most people can do and that outside the US, Canada, and western Europe, most of the world sleeps in 2 shifts, often only 4 hours at night and a couple in the afternoon. And that everyone is different. Some people have no problem staying up all night. I have to sleep at night. Some do great on 6 hours. Some need 9. They are ignoring that basic fact, 2 people may be alike but that doesn't mean the third is.
